Hi: Just got my '37 Ford Door Window garnish mouldings back from the Woodgainer. I now have to install the Channel strips (whiskers) that go around inside of window Moulding. I had the foresight to obtain new Punch clips for this purpose as I deformed most of them during removal. Now since the woodgraining has been done, I could really use some advice on how to reinstall these and channel strips without destroying the new finish on the mouldings Any advise would be most appreciated. I'm not familiar with the '37, but if the whisker strips were originally fastened with very small screws, we use small pop rivets, instead. It is a very good idea to protect freshly painted trim as it is reinstalled. The blue or green "painter's" tape will work, and not lift the paint if promptly removed when the piece is in place.

On my 40, the whiskers were attached to the moldings by staples. I made new staples out of wire, cutting pieces to length. Then I drilled holes in the whiskers to match up with the holes in the moldings. This works best if you start the holes in a spot where there is a space between the segments in the whiskers. This give each of the staples a little give and allows you to get a good fit. Tom
