distributors on later flatheads. some are smaller with a offset slot and the other is flat with centered slots.Dont believe thay are interchangeable?? Taking the easy route for me and asking the forum. Thanks

I've never heard of an adapter with a centered slot... But then, I've never heard of lots of stuff anyway.

The other one is to extend the length of a series 59 engine's cam to function with a football distributor. This would also require changing the timing gear cover to the earlier one.

A tip for ease of installation with this adapter: A hole may be drilled through both side sections of the adapter slot and through the distributor tang will allow a pin to be installed to hold it in place while installing. Importantyly, the hole in the tang needs to be slightly larger to allow correct centering. The pin may then be an interference fit on the adapter.

Alan ,the larger does have offset slots as you said. A difference in outside diameter by about half inch but interchangeable as per the local antique auto shop.
Thanks

The adapter must have an offset tang in order to work. If the tang is centered, it will not fit the camshaft correctly and if the slot is centered, the distributor will not mount correctly.

If you are not going to drill the adapter, choose the larger one as it will be easier to find when it falls out while trying to install the distributor.
