Two mufflers on 1941 super deluxe are say about 5or 6 inches round. Make a smal mello rumble. Car has flathead engine with offenhauser aluminum heads all other parts standard for the year. What type muffler do I have and what belongs on car as standard Thanks. First time since I was 19 that I have again a 1941 ford it's great to own one John

You have either glass packs or steel packs. They are straight through mufflers with a sound deadening packing of either fiberglass or steel wool. Dual mufflers were not a Ford option in 1941.

The stock 41 muffler is round in shape, about 10" in diameter and about 21" long. My dimensions may not be accurate as they are from memory. If you need accurate measurements, I will get mine down from the rafters and measure it.

Nobody makes an exact reproduction for the 41 muffler. It is the same one used on the 39 and 40 Mercury and Ford discontinued supplying it during WWII. The replacement was the shorter 39 / 4o Ford muffler with an extension pipe at the inlet. This muffler is being reproduced.

If you are going to leave the Offenhauser heads on the car, then I would leave the dual muffler setup on the car. There is a slight improvement in performance and cooling with the dual muffler set up.

If you are concerned with the noise, you can install longer mufflers and smaller tail pipes to quiet it down some.
