Topic: 39 Door scuff plates

What defines LH from RH scuff plate? The 38-39 Book does not identify or show a picture identifying LH from RH. The exposed metal on Drake scuff plates have one end rounded and the other end simply cut off. So does the rounded end go forward or what?

Thanks in advance

Ab, I can't remember which is which, but what I do remember is that I had the same question, answered myself with trial fitting. It'll click for you. Regarding the rubber at the bottom, it will be very tight, to where you think you;ve got the wrong rubber. Close the door on it and leave it to reform itself to the bottom of the door, it'll be fine.

  Thanks Alan,

I'll put the rounded end forward for appearance. A few of the punched holes in the flange don't match the body holes but I'll just put new holes in the flange rather than redrilling the body.
You're comment about the sealing rubber is much appreciated because preliminary fitting indicated the door would be hard to close. Maybe some talc will help too.

As matter of fact, I believe I used talc also. Great minds think alike!

Edit: NO talc on the rubber mounting surface to the scuff plate.
