Newbee here. My 1940 coupe is difficult to steer, difficult to turn and does not return to center. Just replaced king pins but this did not help the problem. Moving the adjustment screw, worm gear I believe, does not change the problem. With drag link detached the steering wheel still feels stiff. Is there a place to purchase steering box shims, I think this adjustment is needed. Thanks for any ideas.

Just to be fairly certain your gear box is not adjusted correctly (a possibility indeed) loosen the four bolts holding the lower plate on. If the steering instantly becomes easier, then there is little doubt there's a true issue with that adjustment. Gasket sets are available from Joblot. 1-800-221-0172 Mike Kubarth
