I have a 1947 Super Deluxe Coupe. I see some of the 1947's models like the Sedans had a rear seat footrest. Was this standard on some models or optional on all models etc.

I don't recall any of the '41-'48 Fords having foot rests. The Club's wonderful 41-48 book doesn't mention them, and it is a very complete reference.

I had a 47 2 door sedan that had foot rests. Never seen them in coupes or convertibles I think because of lack of rear floor space.

I have a '47 Super Deluxe 5-passenger (long-door) Coupe and I don't see how one could put a USEFUL foot bar in one of these. As well, one would have to fold it forward out-of-the-way to get in and out, requiring even more space. Dan

Are you talking about the panel that is fastened to the back of the seat bottom at a 45 degree angle? If so my '48 sedan coupe has it.

Our '41 Fordor has the foot rests. With the 4 door ,not a problem to enter or exit. Bob

Methinks that we are discussing different kinds of footrests. Lincoln's, Cadillac's, Chrysler's, etc. had footrests that were mounted on pedestals behind the front seats. The Ford footrests were simply an angled panel under the rear portion of the front seats. Not really noticeable unless you were seated. So...if you simply opened the rear door and looked in, you would not see them. The "traditional" footrests take up quite a bit of floor space, and were generally only present on longer wheelbase luxury vehicles.

My very original 41 I had 20 yrs ago had one . Only on 2+4 dr. sedans and possibly only super deluxes had them?? ken ct.

My 46 Super Deluxe sedan coupe has the foot rests described in the rear. No problem getting in the way of anything.
