What are some of the reason's why some oil sprays out the air breather when riding on my 35 Ford? Thanks in advance. s

The "simple" answer? The engine is very worn.
The "not so simple" answer? Worn or broken piston ring(s), worn piston(s), worn cylinder bore(s), worn valve guide(s)...

Another answer is that the baffle is missing. There is supposed to be a baffle under the fuel pump stand, if it is missing oil will spurt out of the breather.

Tom has made a very good point. One that I'd overlooked.
His point is especially true if the baffle is missing AND you happen to be returning the oil (filter) to the fuel pump stand - the early 1940 method of routing.

Also, be sure the fuelpump pushrod has the "umbrella" on the bottom end. The rod rides the camshaft where it is supplied with full oil pressure. If the bushing is worn, excess oil will released and deflected by the umbrella. A very worn engine will push smoke-like fumes out the breather, but little actual oil, in most cases.

Thankyou men for replying, if I remove the air scoop should the baffle be visable? I did remove the scoop and no baffle was visable all I can see is the rocker arm from the fuel pump I hope this is my problem. Thanks again. sunflower

Remove the fuel pump stand and you will see a round tube with the fuel pump push rod going through the center. That tube contains the baffle. Your fuel pump stand should also have a tube that the pushrod fits in.

The baffle P/N is 48-6756 and I could not find a good drawing of that part in the Chassis Parts catalog.
