Can anyone tell me what car these heads are correct for?

A picture would be very helpful. Or, sans a picture, a better description. Like where are the numbers? Is that the exact set of numbers?

If you are wondering what heads are proper on a 1940 Ford, they have the numbers cast 81A-6049-A (right side) and 81A-6050-A (left side) in to them on the surface adjacent to the valve chamber cover when installed. The heads are not interchangeable right to left.

I must be looking at the wrong stamping. 81A-RH is stamped right in the middle between plugs. Thank you for the correct numbers for a Ford. Is this still correct for a Mercury? I found a chart listing 81A as an 85 1938. Is this correct? I'm giving away and selling a bunch of parts and don't want to lose any that will fit this car. Generators and distributors are probably next.

The heads you have are service parts and while they will fit and function correctly, they are not "concourse" correct.
Correct heads are not too difficult to locate should you need them and are not too costly either.
These are NOT for Mercury.
81A (prefix) was used through 1940. There were some minor differences between 38, 39 & 40 heads even though the part number remained the same.

Thank you for the advice. I know he had bought the correct heads. I just didn't know if they were switched. I'll check the ones on the car.
