Topic: New Scuff Plates

My new scuff plates are definitely interfering with closing my doors due to the new rubber arch designed into the component. Any ideas to flatten it out or does this go away with summer heat and the doors closed. I'm about ready to refurbish the old ones.
Thanks/John

John, When I am forced to use the reproduction sill plates, I tend to purchase them MUCH earlier than I will actually need them.
I then bind the rubber seals in a way that mimics the installed position. Leaving them this way for a number of months, I have found the seal will relax and when installed, they (seals) will not interfere with the door closing.
If you need to install them right away, I have had some luck applying heat (heat gun) to the rubber while folding it over. I do this on the bench - not the car. This method does not work as well as the "binding" method but it does help.
