On my 41, it came with new weather seal on trunk. The trunk won't close and latch looking at seal, it looks like it he trunk is not aligned good and rubber is so new it won't squish down so lock can engage the hook on the trunk floor. Maybe incorrect rubber? Has anyone redone the weatherstrip on their trunk? What should I do after I try and align that heavy lid? What does correct weatherstrip look like? Super Deluxe 41

If your seal has a split in it where two ends are joined you need to examine the end for the profile of the seal. Compare that profile to the seals shown in the catalogs such as Drake or Carpenter to see if they match. Many times new seals are a little "fatter" than the originals and it takes a while to compress them to get the decklid to fit properly. You may have to temporarily readjust the catch on the trunk floor to get the lid to close and begin compressing the seal.

In addition to Tom's suggestions, carefully check the seal around the entire perimeter for portions thicker than others. The seal shouldn't be stretched as it is applied. If so, it bunches up and causes the lid to be difficult to close. We always remove a lid, and turn it upside down, to apply the rubber seal. Lay the seal out, and position it before carefully cementing it to the lid.

Ok do you have drake or carpenter web site? I will try to find but sometimes without all info it's difficult trifold 8 , that catch on trunk floor, , they are little rusty and difficult. Been treating them with blaster. I probably will have to elongate holes for adjustment. Hate to do that but worth a try. Super Deluxe 41

Thanks Supereal, I'll check that also, I wish it were warmer then the seal might give more, it's almost there catching but needs a little more compression Super Deluxe 41

I'll second the hollow seal advice, although mine was a 37 Tudor I had the same problem, went to the hollow seal and all is well, trunk lid sits great. Zeke
