Topic: Ford Manufacturing Site for '34 Ford

Good afternoon. My name is Larry Lyke, and I live in Novi, MI. I have just recently completed a frame-off "resto-rod" restoration of a '34 Tudor Sedan (Model 40). The VIN tag (or, more correctly, the "Serie No." tag) is inscribed to indicate this vehicle was originally built in Quebec, Canada. However, my research doesn't turn up any Ford assembly or manufacturing site in Quebec. From what I can find, it appears that the Canadian mfg. site for the '33-'34 model years was in Walkerville, Ont., not Quebec.

So, my question is in regard to the meaning of the reference to Quebec on the Serie tag? Would any memmbers have any insight to this? If not, can you recommend a source for further info. Thanks in advance for your consideration in this.

I don't have a lot of knowledge on the Canadian cars, but your body tag may indicate where the body was manufactured. Ford did not make all their bodies and many of them were produced by outside sources. Those sources put tags on the bodies to indicate the body style and a sequential body production number. If you are a V-8 Club member you can use your club roster and contact some of the members in your area who may have some history regarding the Ford plants in Canada.
