  h*llo , my 40 ford trunk lid support arms will not hold trunk lid in open position I have new repros they drop the lid also David

  Here's what I did on my '48 ford. It's an early day custom so I wasn't worried about authenticity. I drilled a 1/8" hole through the arms just above the spring. I stick a 1/8" cotter pin in the hole to ho0ld it up.

  David, where did your repros hinges come from? If from Tawain you will have to tighten up the rivets a little more. Lay them on a anvil and hit with a hammer just a tad.

What body style do you have? Bob Drake's has made several different versions of the coupe support arms and some of them did not work very well. The shoulder bolt that attached the arm to the body must be tight for the arms to work properly.

  Thanks,, to all for taking time to answer, my car is a coupe supports are from baxter ford parts imports?
fit and look good but no better than originals at holding trunk open drilling with pin will work but this car only has 81000 miles must be some reason for supports to not work did mr. ford send them out like this ? david

  Call Baxter Ford and explain your problem. They are nice people and will help you out. Because the parts are new, I would not modify them.
