Help - have taken my generator off my 47 6 cyl truck to be rebuilt and I didn't mark the wires well enough to wire it back correctly . Generator is on the left side of motor I believe the top screw says arm and the bottom screw says field is that correct ? Can't make out the words very well . What is the terminal on the back of the generator the bat ?
Thanks in advance . Stan

Assuming that your generator is the same as mine on my 47 V8 sedan, the terminal on the side that's insulated from the case is the field terminal, the other on the side is the ground for the ground wire that goes directly to the regulator, and the terminal on the back is the armature terminal that goes to that terminal on the regulator.

If trucks or 6 cyl are different hopefully someone will correct this.

Thanks for the prompt response , I can't tell any difference in the side terminals , neither look like they are isolated from the gen case . I think the top terminal is the field and that would make the bottom the ground .
