Topic: 11A-12185 Cam and Weight Assy

So I have this Cam and Weight Assy 11A-12185 that has embossed on it, " use with 11A-12181". This assy came out of a 78-12127 helmit. So what is a 11A-12181?
Thanks in advance,
Don

Don: The cam and weight assembly, called "distributor cam retard" was originally marked 11A-12181 and was obsoleted and replaced by the 11A-12185. That is why both numbers appear on the part. The 12127 refers to the distributor used in the 37-40 cars, and the 39-40 trucks. That weight/cam assembly was also used in the later 21A and 59A distributors. It was Ford's policy to reuse parts across years, but often parts that look alike have subtle differences. The best reference to identify parts, and to learn which were replaced, is the "green book", a master parts manual.
