Is it possible to repair transmission case scoring/damage by the countershaft thrust washers spinning?

Is the wear even? If so I suppose you noticed it when the clearances were out of spec. An old trick to tighten clearances was to shorten the cluster (in a lathe) and add another thrust washer or even an 8M-7129 washer.
