Topic: '38 Standard vs. '38 Deluxe

I received my latest issue of the V8 Times today. As is usual for this magazine of ours, it's quality is beyond reproach given the professionalism of Jerry Windle. I was especially attracted to the cover photo of the beautiful 1938 Standard Coupe. I'm of the opinion that Ford got it 'bass-ackwards' back in 1938. The Standard Model for that year should have been the Deluxe Model and vise-versa. Comparing the two models for 1938, one would think that they were two different model years given the sharp contrast in their respective lines. This, (again, in my opinion) given the cleaner lines the Standard has as opposed to the Deluxe. Ford got it right in 1939 though.....

MG: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you are a fan of the 37 Lincoln Zephyr, then the 37 Ford, and the 38 Standard are great examples of that styling theme. To me, though the 37 Ford is the cleanest example of that sharp-edged look. The 38 deluxe, and 39 standard's have a much more "softened" look. As the owner of a 38 deluxe that my dad purchased new, I would vote for the deluxe.
