Topic: Schramm-Ford V8 air compressors

I recently discovered a pre-war Schramm air compressor, complete and with almost no use, having been in dry storage for over 60 years.
This fascinating machine uses the pre-war V8 Ford engine, modified into a 4 cylinder gasoline drive motor and a 4 cylinder air compressor, all in one block. This appears to be either new (like most of the non-auto engines in the hoard I bought)with only about 145 hours total use, based on the hour meter on the instrument panel.
I'm trying to find additional info on these unusual compressor units, and because the block appears to have been first painted O.D. Green, if it is military surplus. Also trying to find location of serial number so I can date the motor's build. Any advice & help is appreciated! Can send many more pictures upon request.
My regular e-mail address is Billmccoskey@aol.com.

The first one I saw was at the Ford garage where I worked. It was built in the lates 40's. As the photo shows, it had special heads. It also had an unusual cam, of course. They were adequate for a jack hammer, but didn't have the capacity for much else. Look for a serial number on the top of the flywheel housing.
