Recent acquired 41super deluxe needs new battery. Should I get a 8 volt for easy starting and should it be an OPTIMA. or regular group 1 battery. If so what make please. John

Definitely not an 8V. And definitely YES for an Optima 6V. This battery will NOT spew acid or fumes in your engine compartment, will NOT self discharge over very long seasonal storage, and WILL last as long or longer than any battery out there. If that's not enough, try to find another battery with more CCA than an Optima. The Optima 6V Red Top delivers a whopping 800 CCA. No, I don't own any Optima stock but wish I did. Alan

It depends on how much you care about how the battery looks. If you want a stock look the Optima battery is not it unless you buy it inside of a stock case for $290.00 here: http://www.restorationbattery.com/2hf.html Otherwise, a NAPA commercial 6 volt battery number 7244 is the same dimensions as the original battery and has 815 CCA @ 32°, 650 CCA @ 0°. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Battery-Automotive-Commercial/_/R-NBE7244_0399033685 It can actually be "disguised" to look like an original 6 volt battery with a $30.00 kit here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/330376684091?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Only problem with that battery is the posts are in the opposite corners of the battery. Thank you for the input. I have a optima now in a model a ford after getting tired of other battery's kinking out after two years or less . I put them on trickle charger all the time during winter John. I will post another question on air filter replacement john

Henry the 30degree and 0. What does that indicate when making a choice? I'm not very hip on electrical stuff. Especially I'm first time on 1941. Had first one when I was a kid. Thks appreciate. John l

Henry I figure the 30 and 0 means when the outside temp it reduces cranking power? John. Took me a bowl of wheates to remember that

Murphy, Old Henry had a typo in his listing of the cranking amps of the NAPA battery. He listed that battery as: 815 CCA @ 32º Incorrect 650 CCA @ 0º, Correct Should read" 815 MCA @ 32º 650 CCA @ 0º Compared to the Optima rating of: 1000 MCA @ 32º 800 CCA @ 0º Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) is the usual means of testing a car battery.
