A long time ago I was told that I could use automatic transmission fluid rather power steering fluid in the early 50's Ford vehicles. I wonder if this is true or is there some kind of damage that could occur? Power Steering fluid today cost a lot more $ than a gallon of transmission fluid. ATF is not for the early power steering. You will experience many more leaks with ATF Vs Power Steering fluid.
