Topic: Horns not working

  The horns on my 35Ford are not working my wires are connected it just gives a slight "burp" how do I test them out? Thanks in advance. sunflower

  If both horns are affected, it is likely the either the horn button, which furnishes ground is thr problem. Or the wire down the steering column is in poor shape. Your '35 has the troublesome switch at the end of the column, and is often a source. Be sure you have full battery voltage at the horns, and test by grounding the wire to the button

  Thankyou for responding. At first no two horns were working I disconnected the drivers side horn now the passangers side horn blows loud and clear what the heck is going on? Thanks again. sunflower

  I's suspect a short or open in the non working horn. It can be the coil or the points. The horn circuit in that car is not fused. Be sure the condenser in the bad horn is not shorted. Either disconnect it, or check with an Ohmmeter. Also check the incoming power to the horn to be sure it is the same as battery voltage. The coil is always connected to the battery thru the points. Check the condition of those contacts. Horns require a lot of current, which can damage or destroy the points.
