I just found out that my 37 Coupe must have been a late production model because it has a 38 gas tank. I found this out when I ordered a new 37 tank and while it bolted up okay, the fill tube coming out of the tank was different. The 38 gas tanks have a straight out fill tube from the tank where the 37 tanks have the fill tube coming out of the tank at about a 30 degree angle forward. I also found that the filler necks are different between the 37-38 tanks. My question is; are the filler holes in the rear fenders different locations? If I get the longer, more "S" shaped filler tube to match the 38 tank, will it line up with the hole in my 37 rear fender? Thanks!

The filler holes on the 37 vs the 38 are in a different location. I don't know if the 38 filler neck will work or not , but it's a good place to start. I ran into this problem some time back and used the 37 neck and had the filler pipe modified at a muffler shop. I used some old pieces of curved radiator hose cobbled together with some short pieces of pipe to make the correct shape. I then went to the shop with the pattern and had a new pipe bent and I had the top 3-4 inches of the original pipe welded to the new pipe.

Thanks for that information. The replacement filler necks being sold with the new reproduction tanks are plastic. They use a rubber hose section from the plastic filler neck to the tank. I'll be getting the 38 filler neck with the 38 tank and we will see what happens... Rono
