Topic: 40 Jones

I have a 40 Ford Jones. I'm an old man and working on my bucket list which includes a 40 tudor. I had a couple of Moredoor sedans back in the fifties but my favorite was a tudor. I'm getting ready to start a tour around the western half of the US looking for a suitable car. I hate to mention that I would consider a hot rod but it would have to have the column shift and a manual transmission. I would like some feedback on the various sites that would be a good place to look for the car of my dreams. I browse through the HAMB and the Fordbarn but no cigar at present. I've also looked at Autotrader and evilBay. I would consider a project if it hasnt been hacked up. Please email klawockvet@xprides.com Thanks, Dave

It may be a common expression where you are from but I am lost. What is a 40 Jones?

  He's "Jonesin'", i.e, craving, a '40 Ford.

Per the Urban Dictionary, it was originally used to describe an intense craving for a drug, and comes from Great Jones Street in New York City, between Broadway and Lafayette Street, a former junkie hangout.

I got it from an old Cheech and Chong song about a "Basketball Jones" now used to describe an intense craving. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basketball_Jones_featuring_Tyrone_Shoelaces

Glad to see the title got someone to look at it, now all I need is some leads on cars.

Have you checked the V-8 Times classifieds? There are always some listed there.

Sounds like he wants a tudor sedan. There's a nice deluxe tudor on this website;www.memorylaneclassiccars.com in Portland, Oregon; This one is an early style hotrod with a warmed up "flattie" etc. I would also suggest that he look at "Craigslist" in the west coast cities.
Check the Los Angeles Craigslist and type in 1940 in the car section. There's a real nice maroon tudor on there now.

I've checked all the craigs lists on the west coast and have seen all the cars listed. Also checked out the one in Portland and the one on the classified. I'm getting ready to make a run next week to look at cars in mid America. I'll be taking an empty trailer from Utah to at least St Louis. If nothing pans out there I will head to the NW on my way home to Alaska. Be glad to help a Ford guy relay a car or parts.
