How do I bench test early Ford radios?

Hook up the NEG lead of a 6 volt battery to the fuse connection and the POS lead to the radio case. Hook up an antenna to the antenna lead in.

If you plan on "bench testing" your radio, two things to remember. Don't use a battery charger for a power source (can ruin the vibrator)and don't do this testing under a florescent light unless you enjoy static!

  36,

The on/off switch is in the head mounted in the dash. Sometimes these are replaced with one in the chassis. Mine is an open car version and has the speaker in the chassis. If it is an enclosed car radio, you need to pull the speaker over the mirror to check it on the bench.
