  wmsteed and Everyone else,

Here is a nice 1936 Ford 3 Window Coupe. What can you tell me is not correct?

from your previous postings you are getting a lot of attention. It is impossible to list what is "not correct" since that would be something in the mind of the owner. there is not much "original Ford" to this vehicle. I hope the owner enjoys it, I suspect you are not the owner.

  40coupe,

I am the owner. Just trying to get peoples thought on this car before I make a mistake bringing it over to the U.S. I am not an expert.

Just curious, did you have a 34 last year that was also part roadster and part cabriolet? Saw one sell on ebay. It seems that there was a lot of 'practical modification' going on.

  BrianCT,

Nope, The only car I have shown was the 1937 Ford 710 Roadster. I was getting into cars a couple of years ago because I see alot of INTERESTING cars..

Gee....I could be wrong but I thought I saw this car on eBay a while back. As I recall it didn't receive much in the way of bids. Again, I may be mistaken.

As for a list of "what's wrong", I think you could make a much shorter list as to "what's right." For starters, the fenders have been severely cut to give the car a "bobbed" appearance. Wheels are wrong but more importantly they suggest axle and brake changes. Other items: leaf springs on the rear, chrome bodyside moulding, rear gravel panel, tail light, no hood ornament, hood strips and etc. I am sure there are a lot more changes but we are only looking at one picture.

Granted, in some people's eyes the car may be beautiful but in the eyes of a purist it would be a lot less than that. I guess it all boils down to what your aspirations are for the car. (JMHO)

  Tom,

Would you say the car is also a better candidate for a rod? Thanks ahead for your imput.

Unfortunately the '36 3 win cpe shown in the pic's has obviously been "hammered" into a style of car that has appeal in the southern hemisphere, however this type of vehicle has very little appeal in the U.S.
It would not be practical to spend the money to ship the car from SA to the States and then attempt a restoration and/or conversion to something that might appeal to the U.S. market, because the cost would far exceed it's value.
From a restorer's/collectors point of view, the 3 win cpe's have a faithful following which think they are the car to have. The '35/36 3 win's had a much lower production, 28,959 units compared to 157,+ for the '35/36 5 win cpe's.
As to the value of the car in it's present condition, I would say $4,000/5,000 , providing the body sh*ll is not all full of rust-out, which is common for rumble seat cars.

Bill,

Thanks, I thought this car had some possibility here in the States.
