I got a PM from a guy asking about my overflow tank that I mentioned in another post. Im SURE it can be improved on but here is how I did mine...

The tank is straight off the shelf at the local Autozone. I bought a piece of conduit at Lowes and cut it to just fit between the hood hinges. Theres an extra hole it the brackets. Welded a nut into each end of the conduit and bolted it from the outer side. The tank has a wire case/hanger with the arms sticking straight up. I heated and bent them to just fit over the conduit.
I used tubing from Lowes to plumb it. Clear, 1/2"OD and 3/8ID so it has fairly heavy walls. Came in a 5' roll but cheap.
Ran the tubing from the radiator overflow tube, thru the lower pan, right up and along the frame then up behind the battery tray and to the tank. Then ran the overflow on that back down toward the ground. My overflow tube has a threaded fitting already soldered to it so I had to use threaded fittings there. Most will just need a hose clamp.

Advantages...

The tank is higher than the radiator so it can be used to fill the radiator completely. More coolant!! If you put water/coolant in the tank, as you warm the engine it pushes air out first and then as it cools it draws water back in. You then have a full system with a 2qt reserve. That's 26qts total.
Second, the whole thing is removable for showing if you want.

Here is a link to an album I made. It Worked for me. I hope it works for others too!

If you are using a pressure cap, it must be the type that will allow the coolant to be returned to the radiator.
