Topic: Engine paint

I am seeking a source for engine paint for my 1950
Mercury pickup. Hirsch and some others I tried did not have the Canadian codes for engine paint. The formula or actual mixed paint would be helpful.
The original color is a cream or off white. A man in California offered to match the color if I send a sample.
The only remaining paint on the engine is above the bellhousing at the back of the block - I will not send the block for matching!
I saw one engine compartment photo in a Hemmings magazine showing the proper paint, but a contact to the
article author brought no usable reply.
Thanks for any leads you may have.

There are paint suppliers who can come to you, scan your paint and supply paint to match. They do this for body shops. Don't worry too much about using paint that is not made for engine blocks. My experience is that any good quality paint will work on an engine block. Make sure the block is clean.

  Jim,
The 1954 Ford Y Block engine(EBU) was a cream color. I used the Hirsch Packard Cream engine paint and it was very close to the original and looked good.

I realise this thread is 3 years old, but did you ever find the correct colour for the Canadian V8 engine?
Do you have a paint code?
