ANY ONE KNOW WHO SELLS AN AMERICAN MADE SOLENOID FOR MY '41 ?

C&G catalog (www.cgfordparts.com) shows a wide variety of solenoids, but doesn't note the country of origin. I just bought four 6 volt solenoids from NAPA for a convertible top control, and they were made in China, but have worked fine. I venture that over 90% of old car parts are made "off shore" now, as more than half of new car parts are, too.

If you want one that will simply work, NAPA.
If you want one that looks almost correct, Carpenter. The one they (and others) offer as an exact copy is not so. They sell a copy of the tall design, used through 39 only. And, they have coarse threaded posts - should be fine.
So, your choice really...

I was surprised to see that the Echlin solenoids were Chinese made. Even more surprising was that they were about twice as expensive as C&G!
