We never get out as early as planned but managed to check out of west Yellowstone by 8:30 and get on the road. Our destination was Worland, Wyoming with a stop in Cody for lunch and a visit to the Buffalo Bill Museum. Before we could do this we had to go through Yellowstone and today we took in the canyon and the lake while driving through. I managed a few pictures of each and you will see how inspiring each can be. I would not swim in the lake though as there is a strong sulfur smell to it. It is amazing how much of a volcano is under here.
After exiting the east entrance we were immediately put into the Shoshone National Forest and later to Cody Reservoir and Dam so the scenery was very much present. There was a lot of different landscapes for a relatively short trip today. I just took pictures as we went along.
One of the highlights of our trip has been the police car replica traveling with us. Jim seems to get stopped by the police looking for photo ops or just looking his car over. Today in Cody an officer set up a photo shoot with their PR photographer. I got to ride over in the new police car. I rode in the front though. Tried to get Fred to pose for a pic of him being helped into the back but he declined. About 60 miles down the road we were getting gas and two different officers pulled into the station. I asked them to radio ahead to Worland so we could get a trifecta for the day. But it would be the last one of the day.
The weather has changed as we were driving in 90 degree heat for the first time of the trip. We also had the first evening we could go out without a jacket. Tomorrow will be a bit cooler in the 80s but I think we are past the chilly nights in the mountains.
There is an A&W drive-in next to the hotel and we all drove over for a photo shoot. Some stayed after for dinner and the rest of us went to the Chinese restaurant because that is what you eat in Wyoming. At least it is what we ate. Tomorrow will take us over another mountain on our way to Custer South Dakota.
Pics are loading slow. Will try and have them up in the morning.

Great photos. Looks like you guys are having a good time and taking in all the sites. Glad to see you made the Buffalo Bill museum and the Irma hotel.

That's amazing that the new sheriff's car looks so much like the old one. Who'd'a thought.

Enjoying your travelog and pictures.

(The older I get, the better old looks.)
