Topic: Update '36 wiring?

I want to replace my 6V single fuse wiring system with a more modern 12V push in fuse panel along with a 10 terminal wiring block. First problem is I know next to nothing about wiring. Is the fuse panel always hot even with the ignition switch in the off position? If so, how do I make the headlights, stop light switch, dome light and horn hot all the time? Do I need one fuse panel that is hot all the time and fuse panel that is switchable? I have an electric fuel pump that I want to come on when ignition is on; it's the original '36 two position ignition switch. I have a headlight switch that has a built in "dim" position so there is no floor mounted dimmer. I will also be using a push button to start rather than the floor mounted switch. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

First, obtain an accurate wiring diagram for your car. We install push button reset breakers in old cars, but there are some circuits which should not be fused, notably the charging circuit. You didn't say why you are rewiring, or if you are changing to 12 volts. If you are not familiar with old car wiring, obtain experienced help before you embark on a large scale project. Anyone unsure of the wiring in their car should first install a master battery switch as a safety feature.

Super, it will be a 12V system with an alternator.

If you need a wiring diagram, I can post one. I suggest you use a two wire alternator, as they are much better than the usual one wire variety.
