Will a late 6 bolt pressure plate and flywheel work with early 33 or 34 transmission? i took out an engine with early clutch 12 bolt pressure plate and installing a 35 with a 6 bolt pressure plate. wonder if there is enough clearence in trans housing or do i have to releive the housing and where do i relieve it if necessary? thanks for help stephen

I will be interested in seeing what you get for answers. Many years ago when about 17 years of age I bought a super nice 34 coupe for $20.00 minus engine. I also bought a wrecked 46 merc. engine for an additional $20.00 and did not understand how to make the two work . It seems that one option was to grind off the clutch "fingers"to get clearance inside the 34 housing or use an earlier pressure plate. I got really discouraged and traded that car and the 39 tudor I was driving and ended up with a 49 Ford conv. Huge mistake !

As I recall, the transmission input shaft splines are the same. You have to match the pressure plate to the disc. Both the '34 and the '35 used the 9" disc. I'd bolt it up and turn the clutch to be sure there is no interference. The release bearing is the same from 29 thru 48.
