Topic: blinkers and lights quit

Lenny    -- 06-10-2013 @ 11:06 AM
I noticed that on my 37 half ton pickup the lights blinkers and brake lights guit working. All other electrical seems ok.
Before I get into it are there any suggestions as
to where I should start.
I'll admit that auto electrical baffles me.

Thanks friends,
Lenny

The stop lights and turn signals receive power thru the brake light switch. If you still have the original cable brakes, look for the mechanical switch. If the wires are secure, either the switch is bad, not unusual, or the power to the switch has been lost.

I have converted to hydraulic brakes.
Could it be a fuse?
Thanks

No. Just check the hydraulic switch on the master cylinder and the attached wires. The brake light system is usually not fused. The hydraulic stoplight switches are known for failure if the fluid gets past the diaphragm. Pull the wires off the switch and connect them together. If the brake lights come on, get a new switch.

  Supereal,
I connected the wires from the switch (see photo),
nothing. All electrical works except for dash head lamps turn and brake.

Tested the wires to the lamps under the dash and hood.
found one loose connection. problem solved.
Thanks,
Lenny
