Contemplating the purchase of a low mileage 41 Mercury 4 dr sedan. Other than the usual things to look for are there any specific items to look for on this particular make and model? Thanks.

Tierod, the usual things to look for on an early Mercury is that it is all there. Missing parts on a Merc are much more difficult to find than on a Ford. Also, a low mileage car means very little if it has been stored outdoors, and even less if it doesn't run. The engine and running gear are the second most costly area of the car to restore, after the body and before the interior.

There are a few parts that are unique to the 41 Mercury.Things like the radiator, the fan, the front fenders, moldings to name a few. I have yet to find the correct material for the interior. Lebaron Bonney and Cartouche only offer the materials used on the Fords of that year, they will fit but if originality is your goal it might be costly to reproduce. Hopefully it still has the original motor but more likely it has been replaced with the 59A motor.
Hope this helps.
