Topic: 36 phaeton windshield rubber

Just purchased rubber from Drake. Any suggestions about the installation would be of help. The rubber looks to be rather thick in the area where it slides into the channel.

Just doing my pickup windshield, so can understand what you are planning. Presume you have a T window channel and the rubber needs to be slid into the T channel. You will need either a plastic half circle tool or grind a putty knife into a half circle at the end. Then you will need some spray foam window cleaner. Spray a section of the rubber and channel, install one end of the T rubber in the channel and then 'rolling' the half circle tool, work the other side of the T rubber into the channel.
It will take some time to learn the way it works, but once you get it, it will proceed pretty smoothly. Just remember to spray about 6 inches at a time.
And as a hint, do not hold the half circle tool that you use in the palm of your hand --- the blister can be VERY painful.

You will also probably need to custom fit the lower corners. Take it slow and easy, it is an area where you can take too much off.

nelsb01, Having never done a job similar to this, I do not really understand your instructions. It must not be too difficult since I see new rubber on many cars. Drake has two tools listed in his sale catalog. One is "mult-tool & window seal lip raiser" and the other is "window seal tool". Are either of these similar to what you are talking about?

Henryat1140, I have the old rubber still in place and will pay attention to the corners.

Thanks for both responses.
