Topic: 48 trunk lock removal

I am trying to remove the lock from my 48 trunk handle. I have only been able to partially disassemble it. I do not have a key for this lock. Any help?

Post your request on Fordbarn. com and I think you will get some responses.

In most cases, the handle must be in the unlocked position to get the handle out of the base to access the lock cylinder. If you lose the key, it usually can't be disassembled. The handle is held to the lid with a big nut that threads over the handle shank. My original trunk handle was damaged, so I replaced it with one of Drake's repros. After I bought one for for an earlier car that turned put to be junk, I was skeptical, but the new one is equal or better than the original. It has the advantage of not having to use the key every time you need to open the trunk. It wasn't cheap, but by time you have a locksmith fix it, you are on your way to buying a new and better one.
