What is the best lubricant for speedometer cable and front parking brake cable. Thanks

There used to be a special lube for speedo cables, but now that cables are obsolete, we use lithium based "white grease" for that purpose. It is available at most auto parts stores. Disconnect the speedo cable at the head of the unit and withdraw the inner cable. As you reinsert it, apply a bit of grease as you go. Be sure to protect the seat, and yourself, as the inner cable is usually dirty. It may be difficult to get the inner cable back in the gear. if so, rptate it as you push. Sometimes you have to open the transmission end of the cable to get it back in place.As for the parking brake cable, if it is stuck, it is difficult or impossible to lube because the inner cable is likely stuck. If not, try working a penetrating oil into the sheath from the top, then work the handle until it frees up. WD40 will sometimes do the job.
