34 grill sh*ll porcelain FORD emblem, mine was pilfered and I now have a new one from Bob Drake, has a round bolt with nut, How do I install this? Must I remove the Grill to get to the nut? How best to remove the grill if necessary? thanks

Over the early years there were two types of porcelain badges -- one that clipped in with clips attached to the oval and one with the bolt and nut.
I would suggest you look at removing the chrome hood ornament. There should be fasteners under the radiator cap.

Unless you have incredibly long and thin fingers, you're faced with removing the grille as the stud on the back of the emblem passes through the grille itself.

You may wish to give some thought to something a lot simpler such as a glue that sticks to chrome plating.

The emblem I purchased from Bob Drake lasted a short time on my car, the stud broke right off. When I asked Drake about it he said I should have put a dab of silicone behind it when I installed it. I guess the Chinese didn't weld it properly! Gee Henry didn't use silicone.

I ended up trying the silicone, works and looks good, if I loose it later I will revisit the problem. thanks to all for the help! john

I used JB Weld on the last one I put on a 35. Did that 15 years ago and it's still on there.
