Topic: exhaust manifold differences 34 vs 35

Leafing through Drakes catalog and wondered what is the exhaust manifold difference from 32-34 vs 35-39?
Is it steering box and/or frame routing? Are the ports the same footprint?

There may be other, small differences, but the most noticeable difference is the forward-most port and bolting arrangement. The porting/bolting on the 1932-36 manifolds were located at an angle with respect to the horizontal centerline of the manifold itself. On the 1937-40, the porting/bolting was in line with the manifold. DRAKE'S listing of years should be corrected to "1932-36" and to "1937-39" (the 60 HP manifolds are different).
Hope this helps.

  Mich:

In addition to Bob Lincoln's always good information, there are some differences, especially around the steering box, as that became bigger as time went on. As to frame routing: there are many differences, but they don't involve the manifolds, only the headpipe configuration. All 32-53 manifolds have the same "footprint", as all 21 years of blocks have the same port and bolt arrangement.

A good rule of thumb is to find the "correct" manifold for your chassis as all will fit any 32-53 motor.

In addition to the above, the '32 left hand exhaust manifold is unique to that model and it is a mirror image of the right hand manifold. The '33-'36 left hand manifold curves outward right behind the center port and then inward to provide for clearance for the oil dipstick which is located between the left hand manifold and the cylinder block (it is located outside the manifold on '32s with the dipstick located on the left side of the oil pan).
