Topic: Fuel Pump Push Rod

  I have a 40 with a 59 a/b. I want to install a correct
40 intake. Its not aluminum. So the correct # and length for the push rod would be...?? And how many variations are there? Thanks

The correct rod for a '40 with iron intake is is 6.375". The rod length for the 59A 32-48 is 8.872 for cast iron. The difference is due to the height of the pump stand. The green book shows half a dozen lengths, depending upon year and type of manifold and engine.

Hi Supereal, Thanks, At least I am now heading in the right direction. I'll check on my pump stand specs and everything else that makes a difference.

I believe the 6.375 in. mentioned is for the 60 h.p.The aluminum manifold would use a 7.872 length and cast iron manifold makes it an inch longer at 8.872 # is 48 9400-A

You are correct about the 6.375 rod. Doggone trifocals, anyway. The other two lengths are correct if the fuel pump stand and manifold is correct for the engine, 32-48.
