Can the small air cleaner be disassembled for cleaning and
installing new mesh? All the parts seem to be pressed fit.

This question comes up frequently. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to install a new copper mesh without cutting some of the supports and reattaching them later (braze or weld). Starting in '37 - no problem.

If you are looking for a "Plan B" consider an oil bath filter. These were an available option in '36 and no mesh is really involved. Plus, it does a better filtering job for the engine.

  Tom,
Thank you for your reply.

I think I will soak it in "Oil Eater" liquid and clean the mesh.
If the mesh is destroyed, then I will cut those supports,
replace the mesh, reattach the supports and then paint.
