Help! I'm looking for a cluster gear for my 41Deluxe coupe, N.O.S. Ford Script 022A-7113 at a reasonable price. I've learned firsthand that no aftermarket or repro will do.

Joblot Automotive, 800-221-0172, has the cluster gear in their catalog. Several months ago I helped rebuild a 1932 trans. and they had N.O.S. parts in Ford boxes.

You may have more success at finding a good "used" cluster. NOS may not = reasonably priced. You could also consider checking with Mac Van Pelt or Charlie Schwindler(sp) for this gear. Edit...You can contact these guys on Fordbarn.com by finding them in the membership listing and sending them a PM (private message). Mac uses his actual name, Charlie goes by Charlie ny. Be aware that there are two versions of 022A-7113. The "A" is 6.59 long, the "B" is 6.70. Ford cluster gears certainly look alike, but over the years, no less than 17 versions were used. C&G shows the ""A" version, with 29 teeth, for $365. 800/266-0470. It is vitally important to count the teeth on the big gear because they can vary from 26 to 29 teeth. Finding a genuine NOS cluster gear, or most other NOS parts, is difficult, and usually very expensive if you find one. Over the years, when the salvage yards were full of transmissions, it was easy to swap them. This means that many old Fords don't have gear boxes that match the year of manufacture, or the gear sets were mixed. A good many "NOS" parts offered today are not genuine.

I suspect the only 29T cluster gears you hear of are going to be the repro gears if they are actually new. You might find a good used gear, but it may be Ford, or Borg-Warner, Republic, Perfection, etc. occasionly a NEW gear might show up on Ebay but chances of it being original Ford brand a small. What happened with your other gear?

a coupla teeth broke on first gear ( 18 tooth)& low/rev slider is worn. Back in '05(20,000 mi ago) I bought a clustergear from BobSelzam in N.J. & can't find his number. It was 022A-7113-A N.O.S. Ford script as ihad A problem with a repro from Joblot. Supereal, how can a 022A-7113 beanything but a 29-24-18-14? The A or B must signify the difference between a thick or thin cluster washer as either one would probably work. How can I contact Mac Van Pelt or Charlie Schwindler? The A and B suffix is related to the overall length of the cluster. I mention it so you can determine what you have. The only sources I found offer the shorter A version only, so I assume the longer type fit a different case. The length is important if someone wants to sell you one, given the big money involved. Schwendler can be located in the New York section of the member roster. Mac has an address in the front section of this site, as I recall. The "A" version requires a 68-7129-B thrust plate, while no mention is made in the parts book for a thrust spacer for the "B" type. There were lots of tranmission cases used by Ford, and a good guess is that the longer cluster was used in a different case than the "A". Both clusters would have the same number of gear teeth, of course, 29-24-18-14, all helical cut. This message was edited by supereal on 3-18-13 @ 10:41 AM
