How do I get the rear door glass out of a 1938 Fordor? I've removed the regulators. Have removed the glass from the front doors already. I'd like to replace the fuzzies in the window channels in the doors. How do I do that? Also, how do I remove the outside door handles. Is there a retainer somewhere? Can't see one. Is there a restoration book available that could answer these questions? The service book does not go into depth on these things. Thanks, Al

The rears come out from the top. Remove the garnish moldings, remove the regulators and tip the glass 90 degrees. push up and as the glass gets up towards the top of the door tip the glass towards you to clear the door top and it will come out. In removing the door handle remove the screws that hold the handle to the door. Tip the handle down to the 4 o'clock position and pull outward.

Thanks for the reply trjford8. That's how I tried to get the rear windows out, but they wouldn't turn far enough.I could only turn them perhaps 45 degrees. Perhaps I need to get tougher with them? How do I get the window channels out to replace the felts? Do I have to unrivet them?

Let the windows drop down as far as they will go to the bottom. Then lift the end that is towards the back of the door. that should allow the window to become vertical. The old felts are glued into the channel. You should be able to pry out the old felts with a screw driver.

I tried the rear door windows again today. They won't drop down to the actual bottom of the door as the rear edge of the door is curved to conform to the wheel opening. The windows only go down a bit over half way. I was a bit optomistic in my earlier post when I said I could turn the windows 45 degrees. It's more like 10 deg. I removed all the screws holding the upper window channel/beading in the window opening and then pushed the window as far up as possible. I then tried to tilt the window and channel together toward the interior. I got it to move inward a little,maybe an inch but not enough to remove it. Must be a better way!!! In regard to the front window channels, they have little clips on the top that slot into an opening in the "Channel Bracket" (my description), and have a bend over tab on the bottom, so they were not too hard to remove after all.
