So as not to completely derail the other thread I'll post the little I know Here!
Stockton Wheel is still in business I talked to a guy there this morning and he rough quoted $100.00 per wheel straightened and powder coated for my '37 sedan.
I think that's a fair price.
I went to Rite Way wire Wheel in Walnut Creek,CA this morning and made an appointment to have those rims that need straightening done and the new coker radials balanced on the car.Used to be able to get that done almost anywhere a millenia ago!
Jose said it would be $70.00 per wheel that needs straightening and balancing. Less if all it needs is balancing.Done on the car.He claims he'll get all the vibration and wobble out of the wheels.
I'll let you know what happens.
Bill

That's interesting about Stockton Wheel. I suspect somebody bought the defunct business.

Bill, post back and let us know how it goes. I am here in the Bay Area as well and might be in need of an on car balancing option. Thanks

Here's the rest of the story:
Took my '37 Fordor in this morning to
Rite Way Wire& Wheel Specialists
1119 Alpine Road
Walnut Creek,CA 94596
925-933-4046
Jose Cruz
He straightened three wheels (only charged for two) bead blasted and painted one rim.Discovered that the tags inside the new Coker's hadn't been removed and that no talcum powder was used to originally install the tires.Said that not removing the tags and no powder will cause premature failure. One of the 6 rims he dealt with was toast, remounted all the tires and balanced the front two on the car.
$240.00 Tried to give him a CC "Oh just mail me a check"!!!!!!!
Two blocks from his place on the way in I hit a pothole and lost a hubcap. It was gone by the time I got back to look for it.Jose had his guys go look for it at lunch time,no luck.He took a picture of one and is posting copies in the area I lost it and feels confident that somebody will get it back to him by the time I get him his dough tomorrow! If you live in Northern California and aren't using this guy you're goofy.
I told him about my other issues with the original tire store, he just said "Buy them from tire Rack and have them shipped to me I'll save you some money"!

  Ooppss!
I asked him about Stockton Wheel and he said that he was acquainted with the owner that passed. The people that are there now are the same ones as before and the quality of the work is supposed to be good.
