Topic: 50# Oil Pressure Sending Unit

  Hello
Has anyone that needs a 50# oil pressure sending unit tried one used on a willys. I have used original Willys 50# sending units with a threaded adapter. The Willys thread is a bit smaller. The following web-site sells a new 50# sending unit. http://www.kaiserwillys.com/product/733/willys_temperatureswitches

Very interesting. On that sight they show a temp sender and it says it's for the King-Seeley gauge. I suspect the oil sender also works with the King-Seeley gauge.

The original gauges will work with repro senders. The needles operate via bimetal strips which are fed power from the vehicle's system, and receive the other side of the circuit, the ground, from the sender. Repros use a variable resistor, while the original K-S senders had internal point sets that vibrated, giving a kind of "buzzed"ground. The K-S is generally considered more accurate, but in fairness, the old Ford gauges were not precision units, anyway. This drives perfectionists nuts, but they are better than "idiot lights".

Thanks for the tip. I have been looking for a 50# unit for a while. Bought one from the Jeep place, installed it in my '40, works fine. Just need a 1/4" to 1/8" pipe bushing to make it work. I'm happy.
