I have a '36 ford 5 window coupe with 85 horse engine. I'd like to install dual exhaust and Fenton headers (cast iron). This looks good to me for my project. However, catalogs list them being OK for '37-'48!! Same engine, same frame. Can anyone advise me of the problem. Thanks-Ron

The most challenging part of installing dual exhaust is the driver's side head pipe. In most cases, they must be custom made for the application. The steering box and pedals present obstacles that require fabrication by a good muffler shop. Unless you are building a street rod with exposed engine, it is hard to see the added cost of cast iron headers over the stock manifolds. For street use, they don't provide noticeable increase in performance.

You may want to consider Red's Headers and their dual exhaust kit. I put Fenton on a 35 tudor that has a 37 steering box. Still had to do a little grinding/fitting on drivers side manifold to get about 3/16" to 1/4" clearance. I would have been better off using Red's headers. JM

Fenton headers can be problematic on some old Fords. As others have suggested I would go with Red's headers.
