Topic: Steel wheel support on '35 drum

I'm temporarily needing to run 1940 steel wheels on a set of '35 rear drums/hubs. The wire wheel support nubs won't allow the wheels to set flat. I've seen ads from the 1950's for spacer rings intended for this, but is there anything marketed today for this?

The wire wheel onto later drum rings are everywhere, but they are not what I'm needing. Putting a pile of washers on the studs is not safe either.

You can buy wheel adapters from Speedway or on e-Bay that will work , if that is what you need.

Same bolt pattern, so an adapter is not needed. They wouldn't site flush either on the 1935 drums. The available spacers from Speedway, etc, are for supporting wire wheels on steel wheel drums, the opposite of what I need.

The adapter you are looking for is a ring that fits around the out side of the bolt circle. The dimensions are 7-5/8" OD, 6" ID & a .1/4" thick, this makes the ring about 3/4" wide. This dimension comes from a set that are hanging on my garage wall. They originally came from Joe Mac's in Socal a long time ago.

What is temporary and how good does it have to look? You can run wire wheels from 1928 (probably except AR) through 1935) and the adapters for the solid wheels will probably cost $100 if anyone makes them. You concern about needing them is valid.
