I am restoring (frame-off) a 53' Victoria (60B) and noticed that the frame has a 1/4" - 3/8" steel slat welded to the underside of the frame on both sides. This extends from the rear (forward leaf-spring) shackle to the front cross-member. I do believe this may have been a recall in the earlier years and done at the Dealership to reinforce the strength of the box frame. Curious to see if anyone would have information on this subject. I was working for a Ford dealer in '53, and the only recall I can remember was for a check of rivets on the front A frames. We were issued a small steel gauge to use for the examination.

Don, a question about the frame bracing was asked on this forum in Jan. 2012. The person asking the question talked to the Club's Adviser and he said that the frame bracing was from the factory. "Bertha" has the same welding on the frame, it's been in the family since new so I'm pretty sure there's no recall involved. Bob "it's only original once""
