Topic: 1933-1934 Ford Restoration Manual Question

In the front section of the restoration manual it mentions that the 34 Grille has a 20 degree rake. Is this an exact verifiable number or does anyone know of any other measurements that and any production variability associated with different manufacturing locations that would help validate correct locations(i.e., is it 20 degrees a validated number, is there an inch measurement setback from bottom to top, etc.)

While those figures might seem important, on my 34 I worked many hours fitting the grille to the hood and to the fenders. I have not yet recived any criticism on the fit of the grille while being judged at an Early V8 meet. I guess you could check the slant of the grille up and down the center of the grille, but that does not seem important to me. Certainly the 33/34 manual is very helpful, so good luck with your 34.   Tom: If you were to measure your grille vertical centerline what would the angle be? Building a 34 from scratch is a challenge.

I will check that for you tomorrow . You do have a challenge building one from scratch. My 34 was a complete running car before I started the restoration. However, I am just starting restoring a 40 coupe that I bought as a"body on a frame". Fortunately I have been able to find the needed parts to complete the car. Tom

Today, with the help of my resident engineer, we determined that my grille is slanted at 20 degrees. I hope that helps you. Tom
