Topic: 40 Ford horn problem

I am trying to get the horn to work in my Forty Ford.
I purchased a new horn relay from Mac's. I took the horn out of car and worked on it on my bench. I installed the new relay and wired it up like the old one was installed. Using a set of jumpers to get the 6 volts to the bench. I connected the negative wire to the right term on the relay. The horn wires were connected to the left hand term on the relay. The positive lead was connected the horn bracker. On the center term lug I touched the center term lug and nothing happened. The horns do work when they are connect directly to the horns, the horns and the relay are 6 volts. Does anyone have any idea what I an doing wrong.
Thank you

Generaly the old horn relays have an H terminal that is connected to the horns, a B terminal that is connected directly to the hot side of the battery, and an S terminal that is connected to the switch or horn button wire. If the horns operate on the bench with power to the terminal and the body grounded, at least you can rule that out. The relay is "ground operated". Hot wire from battery to B terminal then connect the S terminal to the battery ground will energize the relay for a hot connection at the H terminal for the horns. Horn terminals have to be connected to the H terminal of the relay and the horn bodies have to be well grounded to whatever the battery is grounded to for function

From your description you forgot to ground the horns. place a jumper from the + terminal of the battery to the horn bracket as well as the horn relay bracket.
