Does the '39 headlight lens fit over or on top of the bucket metal rim? It looks like the lens should fit over the bucket rim so the lens sits on the gasket surrounding the rim. Two sets of lenses (1 NOS, 1 repro)will not fit this way and rest in part on the metal rim of the bucket (again, 1 original, 1 repro) thus precluding an effective seal against the gasket. ?Comments?

The lens fits down inside the rim. There are metal spring clips that hold the lens into the rim. The gasket for the bucket is fairly thick and the back side of the lens rests against the gasket to make a seal. If you have a Bob Drake catalog there is some drawings showing the assembly sequence.
