Topic: Engine serial number

The engine block I have has 2106910 followed by a star stamped on the top rear, driver's side. The intake manifold would cover the numbers.

Seems to me I have seen mention of this being done sometimes to engines that were reuilt. The numbers being those of the car the engine was going into.

Could someone comment on this for me................

Thanks

Allen, the blocks were not numbered by Ford. the numbers were on the transmission just above the inspection cover and also on the frame. I suspect the number you are seeing was put on by a rebuilder. If a person was having his original block rebuilt he may have required the rebuilder to stamp the production number on the block to make sure he got back his original block.

If that were a serial number, it would fall in the range of the 1948 vehicles.
